Reverse parking sensorAs a daily driver and living in a crouded area, I'm planning to install a kit of reverse parking sensors in the rear bumper of my MX-5 NC.
Has anbody here installed them? Any suggestion? ![]() Thank you! www.mx5spain.com
![]() Re: Reverse parking sensorYou can get a generic kit fitted to the '5 very easily. It just connects to the wire for the reversing lamps and to an earth. Hide the unit's brain in the tunnel over the wheelarch behind the panel in the boot.
This is the procedure on an XK8, but it'll be the same for any car: ![]() ![]() ![]() It's a small world after all. It's a small, small world

![]() Re: Reverse parking sensorHelp!
I've just bought the Valeon beep&park kit n1, but the installation instructions supplied in the bok had a bad surprise: Before purchasing, I readed the instructions in the Valeo official site, and in this "old" instructions, the connections between the kit and the car, were only two, and both the rear light. But in the instrucions provided in the kit box, there is a third connection, it's a pink cable that should be connected at the bottom of the wheel to the +ACC connection. Right now I'm not sure that this connection is a must, because in the web instructions, this connection is only for high level kits, with a screen (mine is really basic, with only sensors and a "beep") so I guess this connection is only neccesary if I decide to upgrade the kit (this is teorically possible) adding a screen. But if this connection is a must, can you help me to find the +ACC point to connect, please? Thank you in advance!!!! So I would be gratefull if you could help me to find this +ACC connection www.mx5spain.com
![]() Re: Reverse parking sensorDo you have daytime-running-lights ? If so, you could pick up a feed off one of the marker lamps in the bumper.
Failing that, though, your rear-window demister relay has a pink wire that will provide ACC (or IGN +ve). Doesn't matter if you have the relay fitted or not, the pink wire will be there in the loom in the boot area. HTH It's a small world after all. It's a small, small world

I'll try to install it in two weeks and I'll come back with the feedback and some shots (if I manage to make it work) ![]() www.mx5spain.com

Frank, his car is a mk3...will the same wiring be there?? John

![]() Re: Reverse parking sensorThere should be four wires in that connector, but only one pink.
There's a green/black wire (+12V permanent), and there are two then that go to the window: a black/red wire and a grey wire. These colours are from an American 2006 car. What wires do you have in that loom ? If yours are different, you'll need to put a multimeter (or a 12V LED) onto the connection to test it. It's a small world after all. It's a small, small world
![]() Re: Reverse parking sensorI'll check tomorrow the cables my NC has in the rear window.
