again yes , but kinda pointless when people want to spend 50% less than they cost to make :/

Re: Carbon partsWhat is the price?
Re: Carbon parts
£1200 of there abouts
Re: Carbon partsdoes anybody do the headlight vents, I can only find ones that are mad money
94 Eunos roadster 1.8
Re: Carbon parts
i make most style of headlight vent .. £65 each or £120 a pair although it depends on your definition of mad money. They really arent worth making for any less than £65 but try and buy some new from japan...not much change from £150 a vent
Re: Carbon partsDoes a vented headlight actually cool the air under the bonnet by that much? I would have thought venting the bonnet backwards like Fergus' car would work better by allowing hot air out rather than cold air in to an already high pressure area.
Re: Carbon parts
That actually makes it worse. the flow of the air over the bonnet keeps the heat in.
Re: Carbon parts
Really? Would it not prevent it staying under the bonnet in the first place? i.e. it goes through the radiator then up and out? Possibly then the air pressure under the bonnet is lower? Anyone here ever drilled through the firewall to locate intake at the high pressure area before the windscreen?
Re: Carbon partsmy thinking was along these lines. http://www.autospeed.com/cms/article.html?&A=2159
Re: Carbon partsWhat are you hoping to gain from it? There really isnt alot to be gained apart from tweaking the timing and getting some good plug leads. Maybe 4-5 hp.. a good uprated airbox like an arc setup maybe. But cold air intakes do very little.
Raising the bonnet doesnt do anything though. The air outside the engine bay is a high pressure which would keep the hot air in. Ive heard ppl getting less performance out of it.
Re: Carbon partsyears ago i tested the various vented headlight lids.
the zomm engineering reduced temps the most , followed by the dcuatro then the rs aizawa'a ... the garage vary naca did ok aswell. the zoom ones reduced intake temps by 23 ish degress and the aizawas by 19 or so from what i can remember. the thing is the lids need to break the airflow , so the ones that stick up a bit do better than the flush looking ones.
Re: Carbon parts
Did you notice any gain in performance? From the butt dyno
Re: Carbon parts
the only thing my butt dyno noticed was the supercharger being fitted...everything else nope... I find it funny how people can tell how an airfilter etc makes the car faster or drive differently etc but ive never been able to notice such small changes...maybe if there were alot of small changes made at once you could tell the difference but not just for a headlight lid.
Re: Carbon partsI never changed anything before the turbo and ive never changed the air flow into the bay and my throttle body temps are sub 25 degrees after driving it for a while. . Air filters just make some more noise and can decrease power in some
Out of curiosity have you run on the actual dyno with the supercharger?
Re: Carbon partsI used to work making molds and carbon bits for race boats before I came to Ireland, and I have to agree with Charged RS, good quality doesn't come cheap. Have a look at price of top-spec pre-preg carbon fiber!
I had a carbon bonnet on the 106 gti (came with the car, cost the previous owner a fortune!): there was 1 layer of carbon for the look, and rest of it was fiberglass. And the resin used was polyester with see through gel coat rather than Epoxy. I'm concerned how it would last in time, with the gelcoat layer getting yellowish with UVs. Nico
