Car Wrapping (DIY)Thinking of wrapping my car, not in some tacky carbon fibre wrap but just a black gloss wrap. Wondering has anyone done it themselves. Seems pretty straight forward once car is prepped, and even if it was a complete failure, unlike paint I can remove it, all the while being pretty inexpensive.
Re: Car Wrapping (DIY)Doing small things like interior parts would be fine for DIY but doing a full car wouldn't be too straight forward I'd imagine unless you have a bit of experience wrapping bits. Your paint would want to be in decent nick too because I've seen wraps pull laquer off before.
Re: Car Wrapping (DIY)The aim would be to never expose the paint again. Even when it wears away I'd intend to just re wrap it. I know it wouldn't suit the next buyer if I was to sell but that's a bridge I'll cross at a later stage. Might buy a meter or so and try it on an old bumper and see how I get on. Have you done it yourself or just from what you heard?
Re: Car Wrapping (DIY)I've only done small things. I did a pair of wing mirror caps and the curves caused me all sorts of problems
Re: Car Wrapping (DIY)I'll never know unless I try I suppose!
Re: Car Wrapping (DIY)I'm not sure it's inexpensive. Have you got a quote for the wrap.. I believe that there are different types with cheap been pretty crap. . Tearing etc.
2002 MK2.5 Sunlight Silver (sold)
1992 MK1 V-Spec. Brilliant Black, Fully Restored
Re: Car Wrapping (DIY)Wrapping is cheaper but not by as much as you might think. You still have to has the surface flawless jus like you would if you per prepping for paint. Also, if youre DIY, wrapping can be a big bitch.
Re: Car Wrapping (DIY)200 for 13 meters and they suggest that's enough for a small car. I might just get a small bit to try and see how I get on really!
Re: Car Wrapping (DIY)Go for it! post pics of your masterpiece
Re: Car Wrapping (DIY)Go for it. I did the windscreen surrounding in black. Not a perfect job but looks ok.
Defiantly do a better job if I was to do it again. Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
