Wiring stereo

Postby rockdrummer4 » Mon, 26 Jun 2017 9:21 +0000

Hey lads,

Tried wiring stereo, red to red and yellow to yellow, would not work.
Only way I could get it to work is by joining red and yellow together, but it is not saving settings (so yellow constant aint working!)
Any ideas why this is?
I have checked fuses and seem OK, any specific fuse I should be looking at, under bonnet or inside fuse box?
I checked with another stereo and this works correctly - red to red and yellow to yellow and saves settings!
Weird one....

You're best bet is to find which colour wire from the unit needs to connect to permanent live (for memory, holding presets etc)and which needs switched live , so then check the voltage in the car wiring to find the permanent live and switched live, at this stage the wire colour doesn't matter as you'll connect switched to switched and permanent live to permanent live, don't forget to earth the body of the radio unit

Thanks Pops,

Did some research and seems the room fuse 10amp is the constant (yellow wire) to the radio, probably blown with all the messing I did!!! Will check this in the morning....

Can I run a feed off this yellow wire to power a clock?
