Leather seats

Postby ColmG » Mon, 05 May 2008 12:29 +0000

I'm thinking of getting my seats reupholstered. Anyone any recommendations for places to get this done? Or places not to get it done....

I know that you can get the covers from www.jimparts.co.uk
They look stunning in the pictures and i would think that they aint that hard to do yourself. (i say that as i have had the std covers 90% off mine and refitted them)

Just to add that Leigh at jimparts has a really good rep for quality stuff and i have dealt with him for other parts and would personally recommend him and his business.

They look perfect. I'm not too sure I'd be up to fitting them myself though. I'll probably just order them and play it by ear after that....

They arrived yesterday. Did the headrests last night and I'm going to have a go at the seats tomorrow. Will post back with pics when I'm done.

All done....

The 1st one took hours, but the 2nd was a doddle because I had everything to hand. The copper rings they use in the seats are a pain to work with so I tossed them in the bin. I used cable ties and they're a lot easier to work with...

Washed the MX while I was at it :D

They look lovely. I also like the location of the speakers between the seats.. does this work well with the sound? Can I take it that you don't have headrest speakers?

Cheers lads.

Don't have headrest speakers. The ones you see there were in the car when I got it (about 6 weeks ago). I thought they were crap at first, but when I changed the stereo they improved enormously. They're a lot more effective than the door speakers, but could possibly be improved by being separated a bit more than they are. Another day's work....

Just checked ebay (see link below) and found some more. Not sure if they all come from the same but I asked them all for a customer fabrication + quotation. Let's see...

The seats look great - well worth the effort, I'm sure.
