Electric windows conversion

Postby x5trebor » Wed, 30 Jul 2008 9:15 +0000

I finally changed my widows from manual to electric last night with the help of my brother in-law an electrics wiz and he had to be. The mechanisms were pretty good but the wiring was crap and the instructions were less than useless. To be fair the only reason I got off my butt was the winding mechanism of the driver’s door had broken. I started with the driver’s door and spent about an hour and a half removing the old regulator and fitting the new one which requires a small bit of rework nothing major. On the passenger side I was able to get the old regulator out without breaking anything so if anyone wants a passenger side manual regulator let me know. There was no fuse and poor instructions supplied but my brother in law was able to fix all issues including making the switches supplied look like they were factory fitted. All in all it is a job worth doing.
