Following on from the other thread, i did this following mod.

I got the strap from an old sports bag i had.
I removed the metal clips on each end.
I then removed the plastic handle held in by 2 countersunk screws under the metal front housing of the soft top.
I placed the strap under the handle and replaced same with a good tightening of the screws.

RESULT: A nice and handy way to pull my hood up without geatting out of my drivers set in the event of a shower. When the strap is not in use, it tucks away neatly up in between the metal housing and my vinyl roof.....i've left it poking out in the pic for illustrative purposes!

It took minutes to do and its Free too!

Some pics further down the thread.....

Rgds,

Ollie.

Pics from the MOD -

The strap placed in and under the handle and the handle screw into place.

The strap goes over my roll bar and gives handy leverage to up the hood quickly!

The strap tidys away in under the metal housing when not in use when the hood is down or up!

Hope it works for you!

This works for the 2.5 too. It's awesome, as my OH would say.

Ollie, I'm not evening killing myself to pull it up, perhaps my roof is lighter than yours?

What a fantastic invention ...

I know Ollie is a v busy man. SO here you go. A poor imitation, but I love it.

I still have the strap attachment, just in case I couldn't tighten the screws back. Am going to snip that off this weekend.

Note the manicure .. Easy to pull this sucker up. Even did it on Pearse St this week when caught in traffic and a sudden downpour.

Strap neatly store away when roof is up.

Ollie, you need to upload these images to your photobucket account again to display them, just searched and they aren't there.

I did it and it's very cool.
I found a extra strap if anyone wants just let me know it's yours.

Fitted one of these this evening - does the job - it can store between the roof material and the bar that goes across the front of he roof, i.e. piece that you have screwed the handle pack into, when the roof is up - so doesnt dangle down and appear in your rear view mirror.
