good idea......i was wondering about was it much hassles to do it tho' - like are the bulbs relatively accessable?

Nothing to it if you can get your hands on a screwdriver, be sure to ask the supplier about the availability of spares, pain if one blows later, I did the same job on a Jap MRS/Mr2 recently as all the lads in japan had done was painted the standard bulbs to get the Red coloured effect, if you could get your paws on some heat resistant spray you could diy, im not too far from midlands if you run into any bother, Paul

Been there done that, However a couple of them have blown now. Not much of a bother as the whole lot is going to be replaced this weekend.
Like Paul says it's not hard, Remove the gauge cover (about 4 screws)
The hard part now is to pull off the gauge pod from the dash without snapping the brittle plastic clips. (done that on mine but holds ok with 1 of 3 left)
Next you need to remove the wireing looms and the speedo cable (small pliars would be usefull here)
The whole instrument pod will now pull away from the dash and you have clear access to the bulbs.
And now for the famous phrase, refitting is the reverse of removal.

thanks gents........and in relation to doing the bulbs behind the heater controls, are they easy to access?

Centre consol out, dash/radio surround out, (dont foget the 2 screws behind the vents) prob radio out and then should be able to reach behind. You do not want to remove the heater panel (did this on the toyota at the weekend and it was a bastard took about 2.5 hours.
