Hi all,

Was thinking about painting part of the steering wheel like in the attached image. What sort of paint should be used to do this. I was thinking about doing a small bit of the door to match. Can you guys offer any advise on this. I would like the colour to be as close to possible as the colour in the picture or even darker but not too light.

Has anybody done this and does the paint start to flake or anything?

Thanks for any advice :P

Hmm,I haven't heard of people actually painting the steering wheel before. My immediate worries would be that the paint might, as you point out, be inclined to flake off because of constant contact with hands, but more importantly would applying paint of an incorrect type affect your grip on the wheel???
The wheel in the photo looks like it has had a leather "sleeve" fitted before or after market??

Hi, yeah you've got a point about it might flake due to the sterring wheel being the main thing you use on the car. I'm guessing it could be easily removed altogether if it did start to flake though. I don't think think the leather is aftermarket. i just got the image from google images so not sure. Can't find much online about people painting the steering wheel to match rest of interior but i think it looks great. I'm wondering what type of paint you would use on it though.
