mk2 interior into mk1

Postby hookieal » Wed, 04 Sep 2013 7:51 +0000

hi guys, I'm thinking about fitting a mk2 interior into my mk1 , dash, door cards and seats. Seats are a straight swap just remove seatbelt thingy lol from mk1. I know there will be some wiring mods needed for Windows and hazards and Speedos are different. has anybody done this and could offer advice . are the fitting points for dash the same on both? am guessing there is some mods for heater matrix needed also , will mk1 clock cluster fit mk2 dash? is it a stupid idea lol

Jeez, good luck with that, I'd imagine that there'll be a lot of modifications needed to complete the job.

Al there is a small forum called mazdamenders.net and they have done it. There is a pretty good walk through it with pics so they should definitely be able to help...

Did you sort this project? it is the wiring that will give the most head ache but no biggie as long as you know someone that as already struggled to patch them together and as them drawn out in his personal hong kong book of kung fu
Swapping the dash is easy peasy buddy...

Its only the heater unit itself apparently thats wired differently plus you have to make up small loom for hazard light switch to extend it to lower position on mk2 dash.Pop up lights will also have to be positioned elsewhere on dash of course but its nt neccessary to have seperate switch as most people dont pop them up anyway when they are turned off.!!
