Hey lads ,

I'm looking at a mk1 soon it's the right exterior colour but I'm not mad on the interior full tan leather with tan carpets and timber wheel and knob etc .

How big a job and roughly how expensive to purchase a standard black interior .

I notice there's also tan on the dash lower dash is that removable or would I have to completely remove the dash if it ends up too big a job I might just change the seats the wheel and the knob and hope it grows on me .

Cheers

Jay .

If the dash lower is an eye sore then you'll probably have to replace the complete dash. The central crash pad is removable on its own, I think, but not the lower part (without removing the whole this that is). The funny thing is, those tan interiors are usually sought by prosepective buyers of Mk1's !! The wood Nardi steering wheel and Nardi gear knob tend to be more sought after than the standard items. What colour is the car exterior ?

Unless you absolutely need to remove the dash, why not try painting it

It sounds like the car could be a V-spec. Why not advertise the complete interior and see if there is any interest ? Robert on here would probably have a complete black interior.

Yeah, they were one of many limited editions in the MX-5 world. The V-Spec was usually either Racing Green or Brilliant Black (with tan interior). Engine and suspension was as standard but they came with a viscous LSD, as opposed to the Torsen LSD that was fitted to slightly later examples. It was the interior really that differentiated it from the standard cars - leather seats, wood steering wheel gear knob, tan carpets etc.
