Rubber Plugs missing since PDI on new cars

Postby TOM 5252 » Wed, 01 Aug 2018 10:40 +0000

A few weeks ago, on a hot Saturday I went to add some Waxoyl protection to the sills of my ND.
I found two open holes on the underside of the inner-sill area, one on each side in line with the door handles. I did some research-------https://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=635989----and discovered that these holes are for the tie-down hooks for when the car is being delivered.

Mazda supply 2 plugs with instructions on the bag that they should be installed in these holes at the Pre Delivery Inspection. I went to the garage that supplied my car thinking they would have a boxful of plugs that hadn't got as far as the buyer, but they had to order them in for me, so maybe all the un-fitted ones are sitting down in Rosslare.
When mine arrived they were individually bagged with this part no. FD01-56-051
These are also fitted to the NC cars so anybody with a MK4 or MK3 should check that these holes are plugged, especially before next driving on salted or flooded roads.
