Altenator /Mazda MX5 1999- 1.8

Postby seamus » Mon, 27 Jul 2009 6:14 +0000

Hi everyone,
I am having a problem with the battery light coming on every so often. The car is a jap import and I was told the altenator was faulty !. Mechanic took it of and a local Galway car electric shop said it could not be repaired as it was an import !!
Does anyone know what Altenator should be fitted to the car or are Jap imports different from Euro spec !!!.
Thanks,
Seamus.

Seamus,

Not sure about this but if you post it in the problems section you'll probably get a quicker response.

Bring your car to any place that fits batterys and ask them to test yours. It might be at fault rather than the altenator.

You also need a new mechanic.. where in Galway are you? If you can get to Craughwell at all I'd recommend Dave Fallon Motors.

What a load of Boll*x, roughly translated that means:

"the twat in the local car electric shop didn't have a clue what he was looking at and rather than try to help the customer, decided to fob them off with a load of claptrap"

If an alternator is unrepairable, so be it . But don't take that excuse of it being unrepairable just because it's an import. Does that guy think alternators are made in Ireland for the mass market??

I thought only Mazda dealers were capable of offering that excuse

I need a drink!!!!!
