Runnin a bit rough

Postby pjmazda » Fri, 21 Sep 2012 6:18 +0000

Mk2 98 eunos roadster 1.6 90km on clock not running great and was hoping I could pick your brains...

When running it's just not as smooth as it used be...couldn't call it a misfire more like a lack in its normal power and when idling it just seems to vibrate a little more than it used to, with a slight little spurt of fuel from the exhaust occasionally also a kinda popping sound from the exhaust, although idles very steady. Have new plugs leads and just did the plugs today but no difference. Googling it kinda sounded like it might be running a little rich and maybe oxygen sensor problem however did the diagnostics with multimeter and it brought back no codes ( diagnostics seem to be working ok since 12v read for 3secs are switching on ignition)

Your thoughts would be much appreciated?

Could be air flow meter or maybe coil as above. We have 98 breaking at moment if you want to call up and try bits on it.

Unfortunately still the same, switched out the coil and still acting up. Thinking it might be on the air flow sensor now.

Injectors do the job??As we have checked ,compression, exchanged cam sensor ,airflow meter, coilpack, plugs ,plug leads,.Cant see it being crank sensor as it is only affecting no;4 cylinder really. Spark is fine at all cylinders.but only partially running on N0;4.Anyone any ideas ??

It was the injectors on mine. Changed 2 out and it started perfect first turn of the key after. Sounds like you've checked everything else.

All sorted am over the moon, injector on cylinder 4 was totally blocked with black gunk, was clicking when running but not a drop of fuel could ever get through this baby. Cleaned it out with carb cleaner put it back in the car and now going like a rocket. Gonna go back now and clean the other 3 and change fuel filter while depressurised. Big big thanks to Robert and his son for helping me out, wouldn't have been able to sort the problem without them.
