Clutch Judder in 1st & Reverse

Postby Diarmuid » Fri, 27 Sep 2013 10:46 +0000

Since I got my car I have noticed a small judder when taking off in First or Reverse, the clutch seems fine otherwise but this judder is annoying. Is there anything I can check or look at to see whats causing it or do I have to go order a new clutch?

Generally you will need new clutch as the pressure plate is probably buckled but you could check the univ joints on the driveshagt for play/slack just in case.New clutch ( good quality) is around 150e plus labour approx 250e

Could it be the slave cylinder? Did you check that?

I haven't really checked anything major yet, the weird thing is that it is a bit sporadic so could be a leak on the clutch itself. But I'll try and get a look at the master cylinder as well.

I have decided just to get the clutch done, the cheapest I have been quoted for just the clutch part is €250, that seems high. what you guys think?

Thanks Robert, I have some meetings in Cork this week so need it done ASAP, I got a clutch for €200 and the garage next to me will fit it for €150. Well at least I don't have to worry about it for a while. The shopping list for this car this week has been astronomical (but mostly nice things), but I have to say it is looking pretty good now though....
