New member issue

Postby Bryson » Thu, 25 Sep 2014 4:39 +0000

Hi Guys,

Two issues with me firstly, I have a Mk3 and I live in Belfast. I hope you don't hold that against me...... :? I am getting a slight engine 'noise' from my mk3 which sounds like a slapping/tapping. When the engine is cold you cannot hear it. It seems to be only when the engine is hot. I don't think its the lifters as it only happens when the engine isn't under strain i.e. not accelerating or decelerating but feathering the throttle at about 3000rpm. I'm thinking its the cam chain slapping about. The car was a bit low on oil when I bought it too. I've hear that it is related.

Cheers! :D

Hi Bryson they shouldn't hold being from belfast against you as they let me tag along with them on a run and a good bunch they are too.... There is a guy in comber (I think) that works on these, a mate used him recently, and he might be able to help out if you want me to see if I can get a number.
