timing belt costsHow much should I expect to pay for a timing belt to be done on a mk1 1.6? What else is worth doing while it's being done such as water pumpy bits?
Re: timing belt costsHi Fez the waterpump should be replaced with the timing belt incl the two pulleys also .The pump and timing belt kit are about 130e plus labour about 150e.I can do it for you if you want .
Re: timing belt costsSounds good. The belt that drives the power steering snapped the other day (hence why I decided I best change all the belts). What else runs from that belt? If the alternator or water pump do i'd have to get it towed obviously. Just googled, seems to be the Ps and ac, should it be ok to drive, provided I don't do any 3 point turns?
How many fecking belts does this engine have????
Re: timing belt costsAh its ok to drive just very heavy steering and no AC.
Re: timing belt costs
This. Had to drive around for a day like this. Bit annoying in the steering, but doesn't do any damage.
![]() Re: timing belt costsfor the timing belt, should I get a rocker cover gasket too?
Re: timing belt costsalso for the crankshaft seal, how do i know which engine I have? It's a 92 jap import, but the engine could have been changed before I bought it.
Re: timing belt costsyou mean short or long nose crank?

Re: timing belt costs
I got a gasket too, and I'm having the timing belt kit, pump, pulleys, and gasket all being done at once. Peace of mind.
![]() Re: timing belt costsFez oil seal can be replaced at same time its only about 10e for seal
Re: timing belt costs
Where'd you get it from? Looking for the best value
Re: timing belt costs
Yeah, in the link above theres either 4 or 8 slots, so its short or big nose crank. Seems the short one was only in production for the first year yeah?
Re: timing belt costs
