Hi,

My car is due a T belt change.
I want to get the complete kit together to give to my mechanic mate to get the job done.

and they recommend doing the camshaft and crankshaft oil seals - so is this them?

a fair bit.. but managable in a day... interesting job, if you haven't done a cambelt before I recommend doing LOTS of reading beforehand (forums + how to's) and get a bit of scaffolding to undo the crank bolt

Yeah prob best to do the waterpump while you are in there (need to remove cam belt to change it).

They are the right seals and other parts you have, and as the feed back says on MX5Parts the cam cover gasket is genuine, which in my book is important.

I would consider replacing the water pump and Alternator drive belts too while you are at it. It's how far do you want to go and in what condition the car is in. You have to take the radiator out so if hoses look a bit dodgy then I would do them at the same time. However, it all starts adding up then and also the time goes up.

If you don't do the water pump at this stage, if you have to in the near future you will only have to go right back to this state of disassembly to have that done and water pumps have a habit of waiting a week to start squeaking after changing a cam belt. I would consider the Mazda one as well as some of the after market ones do not have recessed holes to allow the timing belt cover to fit properly. And if you do the water pump, change the thermostat, again with genuine as it really not worth not going this. A genuine one has a much bigger aperture for water to flow.

Assuming you have a competent mechanic, experienced in MX-5’s and things are not seized then I think the belt and water pump and seals can be done in 3 hours. 4 if they are not used to the car.
