recon engines are expensive

a good used second han engine can sell from £350 - £600 depending on mileage and condition / year.

i usually have a few engines , but none for a mk1 1.6 at the moment.

I take it yours has suffered crank failure ?
Ideally you want to look for a mk2 1.6 engine or a mk1 1.6 engine with 8 slots in the crank pulley.
