Not often i get bet but this one has me.

When the car is started and given some wellie, it feels like and old carburetted car with a defective choke.........best way i can describe it. Seems like lack of fuel, then clears runs fine but does it again intermittently. Changed and checked most stuff and no codes showing up so i am left with changing the MAF Sensor and or fuel pump. MAF has been cleaned several times but i would have thought it would show a code up if defective. Any thoughts anyone or anyone got a spare MAF for a mk1 1.8????

Any leaks on the intake manifold (like the bung at the back?)

well, first thing i changed was the tps and it drove 100%. So thought that was it. Started doing it again and i checked for a code again but nothing showing. Its very like 1; no fuel getting to injectors or 2; ecu not letting enough fuel to injectors. Im gonna take MAF off and make sure all the crap is out of it. Plugs and leads are new and coils check out ok. It started doing it 2 OR 3 weeks after the engine swap. Had to bend one of the heater pipes away from the new exh manifold to avoid burning it and it must have rubbed off the bodywork creating a pin hole.......pipe was shagged anyway and so,..........coolant sprayed onto the exhaust and heance steam into the MAF.........thats what leads me to think its shagged.

I'll go clean it.

Sorted........for now.

Changed the o2 (lambda) sensor. Must have been totally feckin up the feedback to the ecu. Grand now so here's hopin.
