1.8 Torsen Diff

Hey I'm just new to this forum and am needing some advice about diff's. I recently got myself a 1.6 1997 mx5. But it has a welded diff
. I am needing to change this due to tyre wear etc. and read somewhere that the 1.8 torsen lsd from a later model may fit my car.
Can anyone give me any advice on where to get one or if there are other alternatives? (would ideally like an lsd)

We have some LSD from time to time but just sold two last week.Be careful to get correct diff as some are open diffs and you need to be able to spot the difference.Give me a call if you want info or any parts as we break mx5,s in Dublin,thanks Robert 086 8226506

Would you need to change the shafts then for the LSD and how difficult is it to change?

Depends which car you have. If its 1.6 you will definitely need all three shafts and if its 1.8 you wont need any shafts.Your existing will fit

It's a 1.6, so I could only get away with putting a 1.6 lsd in it without changing the shafts?
