Just got the silenced de-cat from mx5 parts fitted by local exhaust fit centre, and ripped out the de-cat pipe that was there.

My noisy (irritating) rasp at 3-4k has disappeared.
It sounds bloody gorgeous..............
I can't believe the difference it makes. I reckon that the narrower internal diameter of the pipe was causing turbulence. A little adjustment had to be done to the hangers as the exhaust was hitting the flange on the left rear drive axle ( it think that's what it's called)

Anyone experiencing this rasp with a straight de-cat pipe I would thoroughly reccomend whipping it out for the silenced one.

That was exactly the rasp sound I loved about your car, but can imagine it's annoying to listen to the whole time.

Yeah it did sound sweet but remember we only hear it briefly. I've been in steves car and it does get pretty annoying pretty bloody quickly.
Was at daves house the other night and when steve left we could hear him for at least 2 mins after he left.

I wouldn't bother with that and just go get a complete 2.5" system from front to end.
Or, I have heard there is an alternative....something to do with a switch
