Sincerest THANKS to DA STIG

Postby CashelMX5 » Wed, 27 May 2009 10:41 +0000

Hi all,

Having lost the purchase of 00 MH 5 to the gazumper, I chased down a 00 D reg. 1.6 in Limerick and went to have a look at it yesterday. Having put out an SOS for some advice I received a call from Ollie this morninng and after a short chat he agreed to take a look at the car today. He gave the car a real ckeck over this afternoon and going on much appreciated advice, I did a bit of bartering this evening and got the price down by €700 on the asking price and, hey presto, I bought myself another MX5. Whopeeeeeeeee! Very pleased.

To Da Stig, a very sincere thanks for your time and advice and a big thank-you to little Jack (Little Stig) a great tyre kicker who is certainly picking up a lot of useful tips from his Dad. He even held the torch while Dad Stig had a look under the car.

Thanks too to Steve for his call this morning, much appreciated.

This kind of help is a real indication of the great bunch of people on this forum and one of the reasons I was keen to get another MX5 - long may it continue!!!

I pick the car up on Saturday and hope to meet up with you all soon.

Tom

Thanks again Steve.

It'll need a good cleaning inside and service, the alloys need caps and refurbishment and the right headlamp bracket is broken, I hope this can be repaired. We took off the hard-top and to our eye it would seem that the soft-top had never seen the light of day - like new. Bone dry inside and out, despite the rain, and overall I'm very pleased. The seller is to fit a new CD/Radio and with a few bob spent out of what I've saved on 00 MH 5, it will go a long way to making it a nice decent car.

I hope this can be repaired.

I'm pretty sure that every component on the 5 is capable of being replaced if not repaired :P

Best of luck with the car, sounds like you got a good 'un...well done Ollie btw

Glad to help Tom.
What a good find your new car is........The hardtop is mint and as for the soft top, I'd say we broke the cars topless cherry  - its just amazing how people buy ragtops and never drop the roof or drive round all year round with a hardtop on??
Still, its all good for Tom cos he's got a little gem.

Looking forward to seeing her on the runs Tom!

Rgds,

O

Hey Tom,

Congrats on finding another mk2 5 so soon..... :alien: . I looked up the photos on donedeal, I think she looks really well especially that the soft top is 'as new'

What area of Limerick will you be collecting from ? If its fairly central PM me, and will meet you to inspect your new purchase.!!!

Definitely you got a bargain......well done again.
BTW what year was your old one .....95??
Also well done to Olliie for taking the time to give it the once over :P .

Regards John.
