Help needed please.
I have a 1995 Mk1 which will not start its off the road a month now.
We found a short on the 12v rail red/white wire by the cylinder head.
1 of the main fuses had blown which is replaced. The car will turn over but has no spark.
You can smell petrol from the back.
I have tried a 2nd hand ECU as we thought it may have got fried and I tried a 2nd hand CAS sensor.
I have googled for hours about the problem.
I am about to go and get a coil pack but I need some help.
I found an article saying that on the coil pack brown/yellow for plugs 1&4 and brown for 2&3 that with the ignition on but the engine off that you should have no voltage and with the engine turning over you should get .5 on each wire as the ECU pulses the coil packs.
I’m getting a voltage with the ignition on but engine off. I’m wondering is this normal or have I got a short somewhere and its killing the pulses. I have the 4pin connector type of which 1 is blank.
If anybody has a volt meter could you see what your own car is doing MK1 only.
I would be very great full thanks.
