Another spin around connemara yesterday resulted in having to get under the car again to check out a rattling noise from the exhaust, turns out it was small stones in the cat shield, also checked the gearbox oil level as its a bit noisy, will have to overhaul it sometime, and another thing thats annoying is a oil leak from the head gasket which is causing fumes in the car, project for the winter maybe
I might need to put the hubcaps back Image

Not much progress since the arrival of our second born summer last year. The shed roof was bowed so i needed to get a support beam fitted whcih forced me to get car back to gether and moved out for a few weeks. There wont be room for a full lift now in the future unfortunately.

I recently got some dollies & managed to wiggle car into corner to make more general room in shed. I have it jacked up again ready to strip the rear end. Have full set of 1L rear bushes and will be doing diff mounts and seal etc. + usually rust removal a patch welding repairs, refurb arms + subframe. + anything else I find.

Roof is more important than the lift, a block& tackle off the steel beam would make a handy engine hoist if ever needed .
If the reports are correct there won't be much fine weather for a good while so now's the time to get the few jobs done

Nice shed! Now's the time alright!

Not much done this end either, refurbed rear brakes and passed the NCT on Thurs with my silver MK2. It's still going like a champ. It's distracting me from starting on the MK1 tho, it might have to go soon.

I've also been busy with shed stuff + sold a 4x4, bought an SUV, etc

The strip down continues. Been struggling away a couple of late hours here and there for the last few weeks, hard a total nightmare with rusty bolt. Averaging about 6 rusty bolts per session, plenty of the gas torch and Mr grinder required. Need to drill out a few snapped bolts and will replace a lot of the original fittings.

Need to start ordering more parts again now,

plan is,

• Get subframe & arms blasted and coat in POR 15 (was planning to buy refurbished but MX5 NI & R Maguire are out of stocks)
• All bushes-- il motor sport.
• Differential bushes (Mazda speed) + lower Mazda or il diff mounts
• New diff seals + Oil (have leak since last service)
• New alignment bolt sets (will prob replaced the front ones too)
• New heat shield
• Strip off the previously applied under seal, arch etc ( i realized i made a bit of a balls of it first time). treat any rust, coat POR 15m then reseal all, maybe roll raptor liner
• Dintroil Cavity WAX everywhere internal.
• finish battery tray welding............
• Poly Urethane ARB bushed F& Rear, may get upgrade ARBs intime

Also just got a Chinese 6T press too for bushes etc, just assembled it , no tested yet looks half decent for the low price, i previously paid a garage to remove the front bushes etc for me.
