Mx5/Eunos specific NCt problemsHave my NCT in 2 weeks, is there anything specific to the mx5 or eunos(particualrly since its a jap import) that I should look out for? Made sure my number plates are legal and put two new tyres on it at the weekend. will probably need new rear pads too, I noticed as the wheels were off. Should the handbrake strength increase with new pads?
Re: Mx5/Eunos specific NCt problemsNew pads wont actually help the handbrake unless old pads are metal to metal( fully worn out) but calipers need to be freed out sometimes and most important to grease the slider pins on which the calipers move as these seize regularily. If you want you can ring me.Really easier to go for NCT and just repair what actually needs to be done. Also top up fluids ie brake fliud, washer bottle etc and if you have RED side marker lens in bumpers you need to cover them temporarily with black tape/This is recommended by NCTS company.Amber side lens are ok.Remove hub caps if fitted as wheel nuts need to be visible.Other than that take your chances !!! Re: Mx5/Eunos specific NCt problemsget a 10mm socket on a rachet and pull up the adjuster beside the handbrake when you are outside the test centre and ease it off when your done.

Re: Mx5/Eunos specific NCt problemsDo what robert said. No sense in trying to scrape through an nct, put it through and fix what needs fixing
Re: Mx5/Eunos specific NCt problemsCheers lads, was just issues like the indicator lenses I was worried about. mine are orange thankfully. In order to adjust the handbrake is it the wee hole on the passenger side plastic?
Re: Mx5/Eunos specific NCt problemsno its a nut standing up to the right of the lever as you look down. Pull the boot up first and you will see it.

Re: Mx5/Eunos specific NCt problemsLooked for it there earlier, couldn't see it. There's no boot on the handbrake, will have a proper look in the morning.
Re: Mx5/Eunos specific NCt problemsIf not a boot, plastic moulding??
Re: Mx5/Eunos specific NCt problemsyep, took off the plastic and found it, much better now.
Re: Mx5/Eunos specific NCt problems1 hopefully last question. Can you fail on worn pedal rubbers if you don't have pedals with rubber on them? Mine are just metal with grippy bits.
Re: Mx5/Eunos specific NCt problemsThat will probably depend on the individual tester..it would only be a matter of re-presenting the car for a visual if that's all he gets you on.
John.
Re: Mx5/Eunos specific NCt problemsMine have none and failed on it until I pointed out p16 in the manual
"Brake pedals should not be rejected for not having a pedal rubber if they were not designed to have one."
Re: Mx5/Eunos specific NCt problems
you sir are a well of knowledge.
Re: Mx5/Eunos specific NCt problemsFailed on rear brake pads so I'm counting myself lucky that I wasn't told it was falling apart.
