My '5 has been stolen end of January form driveway of my house in Celbridge. Has been found next day somewhere in Clondalkin. Of course she was pretty damaged but not burned and that surprised even gards. But the best part happened about 2 months later. After 7pm I got a call form gards that they caught this f*** who stole her and they need my statement. They came same evening. Fair play to him! My new Mx5 has an alarm but I am still worry about her.

They plead guilty once confronted with some 4x6 snapshots - no idea what the ruling was though, probably a slap on the wrists and a stern look from the judge

I got call from Gards yesterday, they want me to show up in court this Wed. I am bit worry to testify against the wankers who stole my car.
They know from where they stole the car so how do I know they won't comeback? Also I dont want to waste a hard work what has been done by Gards, which I really appreciate. I'm a bit confused. I've never been in court here in Ireland, have no idea how the procedure looks. I'll be very appreciate for any advises.

I wouldn't fret it, there's no point in reporting burglary etc if you are not going to go through with it. If you don't go to court, the prosecution usually gets quashed.

The court case normally involves you waiting for an hour in a waiting room, then being called in. You probably won't even get called to stand; if there are chances that you are, the prosecuting Garda will usually give you a call before hand to prep you.

Court case will probably take 15 minutes max.

Go for it. Not taking it through is the same as letting them away with it.

Thanks Frank, it seems to be not too scary as I thought. Definitely I dont want to let them away without any punishment, just I was a bit worry.
I'll let you know how was as soon as I be back from court. Thanks a million!
