Finally ! Insured and taxed so it saw the road for the first time since last September yesterday. All good - the brakes were a tad crap initially but everything seemed fine by the time I returned home (just a 15 mile run to get things hot).

Great to get it back on the road. Hopefully your weather was the same as it is here in Galway now, nice and sunny but a bit breezy, I’d say maybe top down but still wearing a jacket type of day

Yeah, the weather wasn't bad at all. I left the stereo off and the roof up because I wanted to listen to the car to make sure everything was good.
When I pulled out of the driveway, there was slight grating from the brakes hence wanting to hear what was going on. For sure, cars do not like being laid up !
Now for a longer spin on my next free day.....whenever that will be !

For sure. My plan is to not sign it off the road anymore so it will motivate me to drive it more often over the winter months !

As part of the pre-NCT prep, I replaced the pedal rubbers with some OE items:

While I was at it, I decided to do something with the dipstick. These have a tendency to crack at the handle due to age and engine heat. I was going to buy a new item but it will probably crack/break in the long term so a DIY fix was in order ! So I cut the remainder of the broken handle off, filed it to a rounded shape, drilled it and fitted a key ring piece so now it looks like so:

And it passed the NCT, first time again, for the 4th year running !

Well done passing the nct, it’s nearly becoming a reason for celebration now. Good idea with the dipstick, might think of doing something with mine now

Yeah Pops, I was kinda dreading it to be honest. The R53 Mini needs to go through next.....hopefully for the same result !
