am having NCT issues myself at the moment, not with the MX5.
The Kyron failed on 2 things,
1) I hadn't removed the wheel nut covers (feckin amateur!)
and
2) they couldn't read the chassis number on the chassis.
It has to be that one, not the one on the plate/sticker on the body or in the windscreen (had a new windscreen fitted for the NCT the previous day... they new one doesn't have the little window in it to see the vin there now either lol) as its possible to swop the chassis. He gave it a scrub with a wire brush, which made it worse, I tried lightly sanding the remaining surface rust later and its now disappeared... gah!

I need to go the Gardai and have a form stamped saying they are happy the car is all good, to do this I need to bring my log book... which of course has gone missing... gah!
Will bring both forms down to them at the same time and have the log book replacement form completed first, then whip out the 2nd form which I presume there'll be no issue with as they've just stamped the first confirming its ok... will see how that goes :-)

Yeah Pops, I was kinda dreading it to be honest. The R53 Mini needs to go through next.....hopefully for the same result !

Great bit of McGuyver-ing with the dipstick.

And well done on NCT - always a great feeling (I've yet to pass 1st time...)

FFS Steve.... That's a pain in the hole. Hopefully the Guards will play ball (sounds a bit like when Hillary changed her Eunos to what is now my MX5 on the log book!).

So I rang the psv office for an appointment, the lady tells me the inspector will take nothing less than a printout of the vin from the ecu (and the log book presumably). How that logic works when the ecu is attached to the body I'm not sure... I'll ask him. Oh he's not available till at least next week. Yay...
I've no idea where my closest Ssangyong dealer is but got the printout I need locally.

Got this sorted yesterday, turns out I know the psv officer pretty well ;-)
So, went to the NCT centre for the visual and the dude insisted I take off the wheel caps also ... I took them off one and at time and replaced them immediately ... I was missing one by the time I got home, gah! New one ordered.

Yes indeed! Though for some reason they put from Northern Ireland - which is odd, cos that's where I'm from, but not what I put in the info I sent. Guess I can nowvsay 'as featured in Total MX5'!!!! :-)

Len hit the bullseye - the car looks great with the contrasting roof.
