I think it may be better if the option to turn on the 'Members Only' option was switched on, just like all the rest of the forums online.
As with other Mx5 and Miata forums online it is better for the club members and does away with a LOT of crap posters/scammers etc.
Just my bit......

Not all forums are locked down (mx5oc and nutz to name a few) and you have to be a memeber to post so i can't see what good it will do. Only thing is that people won't be able to come on here and view topics without signing up but its not hard to sign up so what/who will it stop?

We had a small discussion about this on Sunday. I was making the point Ash just made. If someone wants to come on and post something advertising their product / spam they're not going to be intimidated by the minute or so it takes to register.

besides we are hardly inundated with stuff. You could arrange it so that Steve/Ash have to approve new registries but I'm sure the boys have enough to be doing and anyway what selection process would they use.

Compare and contrast.

I have to agree.
If you lock it down you will just have people sign on to look
and then never post anything.
