Car parked up in the garage - Tips to keep her AOK!?!?!With this Effing weather
rgds, O. ![]()
How long will it be sitting there for Ollie?
The one I bought had been sitting in a lockup for 18 months or so, and though he'd started it every now & then he had always left it in the same place, and the tyres were deformed as a result. Guess you won't be suffering that problem though! No more Mk1, now driving an '08 Mk3. Still fun!
am i right in saying the brake pistons tend to seize. Pat English said he replaced the two rears on mine for this reason...

Pump the tyres up hard.
Fill the tank with fuel. And don't cover it up! unless it's in a heated garage.
Hi all,
Well the car will be i the garage for 5 days a week i'd say and all winter - but I'll try and get her out as often as poss. Is there any way to ensure that the brake pistons will not seize.......like applying wd40 or summit? rgds, Oll. ![]()
take off the caliper (one 10mm bolt) and put copper grease on your slider pin for a start.
My car sat for a year in 2002.. changed the oil immediately afterwards, no issues apart from a dead battery..
Ollie, winter is the best time for the top down. Its a tad cold but drier than summer so put the heaters on max and wear a hat. Also all the extra frost/ice on the roads makes the journeys a lot more fun and unpredictable. Dont pack her away!!!!!! Olly (eile)
