Roadster of the year (again!)

Just got a copy of this months CBG New Car magazine, and they have their “New Car Honours” listed – with no surprise that the MX5 won “Roadster of the Year”……
Year after year the MX5 keeps cropping up as the best Roadster across various different countries and publications, and there is no exception here. It might not be one of the most powerful cars around, but it certainly is one of the most enjoyable to drive, and now it comes with a choice of soft-top or folding hardtop – and the latter doesn’t mess with the weight or handling at all. MX-5s will be reliable, they hold their value better than anything this side of a Mini and they are incredibly easy to live with. It was close this year, but the fact that Mazda can still beat Porsche in this category is a measure of just how right it got this car.
Ivan – fear not – the Boxster was in second place….but only by a whisker:
Price is probably the only main obstacle to the Boxster’s success, as if it were more accessible it would probably walk away with this category. It is still the roadster to choose if you have more cash to spend, and it really is a car that just gets better………
3rd was the Nissan 350Z Roadster.
