Mate of mine is buying a car... has up to 6k burning a hole in his pocket, wants a saloon, been looking at Avensii, '03 Mazda 6 (with 100k on it), Nissan somethingorother(don't think he's serious.. ), Mondeo, Accord, etc ... you get the idea..
it has to be ultra reliable
it has to be 2lt or less
it has to be as new as possible
as many gadgets/addons as possible (climate control, abs, steering wheel buttons, all electrics, bum heaters, foldy mirrors, etc etc etc)

so what would you buy? (links appreciated)
 and/or
 from where?

 Cheers
 Steve

http://www.driving.ie/usedcars/index.cf ... ID=1265555 or a 2 door saab turbo -
http://www.driving.ie/usedcars/index.cf ... ID=1262805 or a toyota luxo barge like this -
http://www.driving.ie/usedcars/index.cf ... ID=1245950 Bm 2 seater - better of with a 5' tho if he was going for summit like this.
http://www.carzone.ie/search/BMW/Z3/1.8 ... 267/advert honda -
http://www.carzone.ie/search/Honda/Acco ... 567/advert Bm luxobarge - i can thouroughly recommend the 5 series, had a couple.......lovely car.
http://www.carzone.ie/search/BMW/5-Seri ... 736/advert nicer auto example i think -
http://www.carzone.ie/search/BMW/5-Seri ... 421/advert cant any vouch for any of these dealers - just did a quick filter through driving and carzone of the kinda jammers i'd look at if i were him.
Some are over budget but he'll get better metal if he stretches a tad.

 dude,
First three are not within budget (as ya said but are cool none the less),
the Toyota is bigger than 2lt,
a Z3??? We'll have none of that soldier talk in here! ,
The honda, could be good but no exterior pic + its the guts of 4 hours away + 107k .. erk
He won't go Audi, BMW or Merc due to parts prices.
Not that easy.. but at least he's putting some thought into it Steve

 Awwwww man,
the first 3 could well be within budget......easily get them in under budget with a haggle for a straight cash deal - my preference the mondeo, i had 2 of them, good car.
re; the Bm Z3 - just did that on purpose! re; Bm parts etc, well, you can get a lot of spurious stuff now for Bm's and german marques - so, he'll need not worry, and they are easy to service if he can do it himself and if not, plenty of specialists to do it anyways.

I've driven both the Mazda 6 & the new style mondeo & I would highly recommend either. The mada has it's legendary reliability & is rather nice, but the mondeo drives like a deamon & that was just the turbo diesel.

Have to say that 2 litre scooby looks the dogs b**llocks - would love to have one - perfect for throwing the family and all their gear into - especially as the Pug is giving starting trouble
