Lads and Lassies,
Myself and the family went shopping yesterday and was rambling round the shops in Kildare Village outlet. My wee fella Jack wanted to go into a camping shop for a look at the tents - so we went in and I was taken aback by the value in there. €23 for a sleeping bag,€99 for a tent and it got me thinking - how about a weekend away in the cars later this year camping!? Could do it in Late Aug for example.
Think about it - we head to west cork lets say (only a suggestion/location not important) and we do a days run and then set up camp somewhere remote that night, park the cars, pitch the tents, maybe have a fire, a few drinks, a few choice choons, the craic and then retire. Rise the next morning to a nice fry up and then do another days run. Great flexibility where to stay, the group will stay together, it'd be quite an adventure!
Thoughts anyone or Am I just mad cos' I think I'd be great craic.
O.

Did something similar here a couple of years ago, class weekend! http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=53.615881,-9.881451&spn=0.00863,0.019312&t=h&z=16Always handy to have a support vehicle in tow full of foldy chairs, BBQ, etc .. Frank kept us fed.. handy enough with the spanners so he is..

I'd be on for that, but no need for the support vehicles, just buy a pair of motorbike giortex trousers & sit wherever you like!
Top tip, 2 bales of peat briquettes makes for a great camp fire, available at all local garages & much handier than bringing fuel with you.

I know of a great spot on the North coast of the Inch peninsula, good big grassy area & plenty or area to park the cars up. I also know of loads of places around Dongegal but that might be a pretty big trip for most.

Have tent, will travel. On for this if date(s) suit.
On the suggestion front, since west cork was mooted, I am a fan of Allihees on the Beara Penisula. Campsite right on the beach with drive-in facility & owner Anthony will deliver fresh fish by the bucket-load right to the BBq
