Which do you prefer. Please feel free to voice your opinion but don't use this as an opportunity for personal attacks.

I like the new forum and am prepared to give it a go, but there's one MAJOR thing I miss with the e-list gone: I can't read and respond to posts using my smartphone. That cuts my "mx5ireland" time down drastically.

I had to give up octane.ie in favour of boards.ie, and even now I find it difficult to juggle between the Triumph forum (beards and wet feet) and the boards.ie one. Forget the miata.net forum, and forget the “MX5 powerlist” – just can’t get the time for that anymore at all. I was only able to keep up with the MX5ireland e-list as it was email, and readily useable.

Frank,
I have given up on boards.ie/motors due to the hgh volume of cretins, (not you though). I find octane.ie has a much better mix of people who are less likely to jump down your neck.

I voted Forum, you have to go with the times, otherwise the MX5 club would be writing letters to each other !!!

I voted for not really bothered as well.
What we could do is keep both of em going and see what happens ?

I know with the Elist it is easier to get needed information fast - a simple reply email to a question asked, the forum may take longer that way.
But the forum can have some real quality material placed in it in a short time and most questions would be 'already answered'.

Hmmmm

Hi guys,

It's sad to see so much division. I've been very happy being a member of the email list, and I'm not used to fora, but I decided I'd give it a few days before I formed a view. I've still not come down on one side of the other - there are clearly benefits to both, and I can see how one way suits some, and another way suits others.

I must say I was surprised to see the email list gone so fast without much debate, but as I take no real part in the running of the club, I didn't really expect to be consulted.

Most of all, I'm sorry to see a person who has given as much to the club (and such a top bloke as well) as Colm has to be so ill-used. Colm, thank you for everything you have done for us. One day I must get that battery from you!

I wouldn't have wanted it like this, but given where we are, maybe the best is for both the email list and the bulletin board to continue until one or other comes out on top. I guess that's what will happen anyway.

And finally, to readers of both the email and the forum, apologies for cross-posting.

ooooh, Forum, Forum, Forum........for me. In a GUI world, it's the only way, right......??

I will concede the email list was handy if an interesting topic popped up, but, oth, there was an awful lot of........er..........other stuff on it.

Frank - just get a real phone :P !! Prob solved !

Forum suits me a bit better as a fairly infrequent visitor. Searching for stuff's a lot easier and it's much easier to follow a thread when it's laid out in front of you in a nice, linear manner. Well done Colm.

The real question is.
Will the forum help the club or hinder it?
Help it i would think.

I don't think the two can work together as stuff will be just repated on both sites all the time.

...of course, a poll on the forum is likely to be biased towards the forum... just like on via email is likely to be biased towards the email medium...
