Auto-prune is a feature that will cause a forum to prune itself. (For more information on what pruning is, see 3.1.3 Pruning). To enable auto-prune, make sure the checkbox is checked.

You may set the age of posts to prune. All posts older than the set age will be pruned. You may also set the frequency of pruning. For example, you could have the forums prune themselves once a day, or once every seven days.


This may have been the cause so I've disabled pruning (I think)

Yes it is... just like the last time 'somebody' went and did something as if they are the gods of the club. You'll be waiting a long time though Robin cause I didn't do this cr@p

AutoPrune was not turned on, and the word filter was restored to what it was before, so I'm thinking 'somebody' went playing with the database again and had to do a restore. And the software is still not updated, spam IS getting posted because I had to go delete 3 spam posts this week and that's not counting stupid spam accounts.

PMSL I don't think that's what he meant Fergus but I like your style.

I think he meant it's a bit out of order to be calling people Muppets.

What we probably need to do is get everyone who wants to be a member to pay a sub of say €250 a year and then we can pay some professionals to run the forum for us.

It's about time we all took ourselves more seriously.

Take a step back lads and take a deep breath.
The forum is working well, given the volume of posts.
I am willing to give whoever the benefit of the doubt as to whether the auto prune option was ticked or not...is it possible to retrieve result of said prunings?
The whole basis of the club is casual, and this is probably at the root of the problem.
We may have to face the question as to whether or not we remain so, or else we become "official" or just give it up altogether... i prefer the casual option myself.
Would it be inviting disaster if we arranged a pseudo-AGM to try and sort out some of the problems?

Anyway, I've withdrawn administrator rights, so posts should not disappear.

The hosting package is up on March 13th and I'm not renewing, so if you want a forum and website after that you'd better go on and do something about it.
