Re: Aftermarket Steering Wheel Horn Button QuestionIt's all connected through a device called a clock spring which also serves to supply the airbag with it's operating current..replacing the steering wheel on the mk2 is not the wisest move as you'll lose the airbag and, as, you found out, the horn. The clock spring is a yellow ( I think) circular piece of apparatus and fits around the steering column near the top..you've probably seen this if you've removed the original wheel..I bought a mk2 some time ago and it had a botched steering wheel conversion, I quickly reverted it to an original because the nct won't allow interference with the car's safety features..That said, you'll surely find some info on google or similar on how to replace the wheel and horn. Hope I haven't rained on your parade but just beware of the pitfalls of modding certain items.

or just wire in a push botton on the dash for the horn ....much cheaper

Yeah, but the one on the wheel needs to be wired, but the wire needs to rotate with the wheel, so there's the problem you'll only sort it with a similar arrangement as was there previously

Aftermarket Steering Wheel Horn Button Question1 is connected to the wire in the car, the other one you put a short wire on and ground it I the boss. When you push the button it completes the path to ground from the wire in the car and sounds the horn, make sense?
