I am running a 35 mile ultra run across the wicklow mountains tomorrow night. We will be starting at 2am Saturday morning so most of it will be in the dark and you have to navigate yourself, its about 5,000ft of ascent. I hope to do it in about 8 hours if the weather is kind to us.

I am doing it for the RNLI a cause close to my and Mr Sean Sidewaysriley's heart. So I can't offical fund raise for the RNLI because the run is being done for the Wiklow and Dublin Mountain Rescue who will be out on the night to assist any who get into difficulty, again another great cause......... So if you think the challenge is tough enough and the RNLI a good enough cause if your in a pub tomorrow night or the weekend and see an RNLI fund raising box could you put any loose change in it and maybe tell your mates what I am doing they may want to do the same thing......

Thanks in advance..... The RNLI runs totally on your voluntary donations.....
I will try to put a post up Saturday night to say how I got on.........

Well did it...... 9 hours and 16mins.... The weather was ok for the first 20 miles but it then got worse. Over the first mountain section zero viz with driving sleet and rain.....2nd mountain section just bad viz..... navigation was very tricky hence I think a longer time than I wanted........
@ Sean...... Thanks much appreciated. I did have a long chat with the fund raising dept at the coastal conference but I was worried that if the weather got really nasty or if i got an injury it would cloud my decision if I had to pull out during the race knowing people had sponsered their hard earned money for me to finish. I intend to do it again next year so maybe will hit harder for sponsorship kowing whats invoved now. But thanks.......
