Anyone have a Crankshaft Locking tool?

Postby Supertoucher » Fri, 01 Feb 2013 7:09 +0000

Hi guys,

I'm new but have been lurking for some time - picked up my mk2.5 last week.

Needs the cambelt doing and I was hoping on doing it this weekend as the weather is good, but the only thing which hasn't arrived in time is the crankshaft locking tool :(

Has anyone got one they got lend me for some beer or a few quid? I'm in the Sandyford area in Dublin.

Thanks,

You don't actually need a crank locking tool .Is it that you can't open crank bolt 'usually need airgun, as the pulley and block are marked so you can't go wrong and the cam pulleys are marked. If you want to call me I can talk you through it. Robert 086 8226506.Also good practice to replace waterpump and tensioners as they come as a kit.

Thanks for your response Robert - I do have all the kit incl waterpump but I heard its easiest to remove/torque up the crank bolt if you lock it. Is there another way to do it?
