Hi,
Just wondering what your opinion is about this.
I have a MK1 and would like to replace my current front number plate with a sticker 1 like the old E-type Jags.
I am fully aware of the NCT regulations. I personally like the sticker type plate without the EU flag on it but I wonder would Mr check point Garda have his noise out of joint over it? Do you think the sticker type plate would look good with or without the EU flag on it?

I can say for certain that if you come across the wrong guard then they will do you for it, unless it is made from reflective material and has the correct lettering/sizing/font etc.
don't get me wrong I love a small plate, got warned once for the stick on plate (a very small one though i must admit) so got a proper plate but in motor bike size. Was told this week that its not legal and meet the wrong guard and it will result in warning or fine. Since my car is seen by about 10 different guards a day it felt it best not to risk it anymore. Now have a stupidly large but fully legal plate on it. Up to you I guess, looks good yes, chance of being caught slim. Would I do it, not anymore.

Full size legal sticky plate looks way better than regular plastic plate on bracket. That is of course I my opinion

You'll get away with it in daily use, but just remember to pop the proper number plate on at NCT time.

I had a sticky plate for years, failed the MOT once and wore the proper plate AND the sticky plate just for the MOT thereafter. No problem.

Agreed I got away with it for years but it only takes one jobsworth... This came directly from a guard in traffic.

What year is it? Pre 93 cars don't have to have a normal number plate. I think its 93 anyway or 92? Ill try find the document

I checked its actually pre January 1991 that you don't need to follow the format
