				Buying My first MX-5

It's been a long time since I am considering to buy an mx5 but the time only came now and looking for any advice.
I am driving between Athlone and Tullamore every day to work (40km) so it would be a daily driver. I have a budget of 2k to spend. Would prefere a 1.8 for the extra power and LSD. Hard top would be nice but not a must. What do You think about the general idea of using it as a daily driver and what to look for if I go for it? Any adice appreciated!

MX5s make quite a practical daily for one, despite their size. I have done 400 mile days and none the worse for ware. Once you have a supple back for getting in and out you will have no problems. Buy and enjoy. paulc.

				Yes

after 7 years in subarus I can't justify the runing cost of it as a daily driver anymore. Have a forester for the family and a 2 door impreza for a project so need something won't cost an arm and a leg to run.

Went to see two cars Yesterday . It was different than I expected. Bit confused now.
The first one was an exceptionally clean Mk1 , absolutely a credit to it`s owner .
The other one is an NB , it looks all right .Nowhere near to the first one in terms of condition but would be acceptable for a daily driver. It`s definitely not a bad example anyway..
The big surprise for Me was I felt the NA a lot tighter inside. Mk2 felt a lot more comfortable. I would prefer this particular NA but I don`t think I would like it every day. Could this be only because of the different seats ?

You've kinda discovered the secret there...the mk1 is a drivers car, I often compare it to a go-kart in terms of response through the steering wheel etc, great fun and I love driving it. The mk2 , however, would be my car of choice if I was doing a lot of long distance driving, it is certainly more comfortable, but doesn't have the rawness of the mk1, personally I prefer the mk1, mainly because I only use it occasionally..which is not through choice, more to do with the fecking recession.. Buy & Enjoy

Collected the car Yesterday. Some wet roads on the way home. Let just say it's completely different from subaru. Tail happy is an understatement.

I have a lot to learn driving, that's My first impression.
