Would a RO sander work as polisher?

Hi all,

I'm planning on polishing the car but I don't have a dedicated polisher for the job but I do have a RO sander. Looked at few forums and some say that it wouldn't spin the pad just vibrate which makes sense. Just wondering if any of you had any experience and could share it? Thanks

So called DA polishers work same as RO Sanders so with a right attachment and pressure control should work. Looked at what's available to buy and some are very cheap(would probably just rotate and leave you with swirls) or very expensive(some 200+). Will try to source some pads tomorrow and give a sander a go.

Hi Deivis, sander speeds are too high and some do not rotate in circular motion ,more random orbital shape. Short answer is NO ,it will scorch the paint. That is why polisher has speed control on it.

Hi Robert, mine has speed control and all that. As you say it vibrates in random orbital shape but ones it's in contact it starts to spin. My only concern it won't have enough grip to do so and will only vibrate in random shape witch is no good. It's just after watching that video those da polishers had same idea so I thought..
