I am looking for someone to replace the softtop on my mx5, I have the top bought, I just need someone with the time and patience to do the work for me. In exchange for your time I will give you some money

Some of the lads in Dublin may do it for you if they have the time, or if your in Cork someone down here may do it.

I'm looking to do the same.
With the Galway run everyone I talked to who had done it or seen it done, said it shouldn't be a problem, and some offered to come up to Dunleer for a BBQ and give me a hand (as I am a bit to do it myself).
Maybe we can have a tech day at my place and fit the two together + my neighbour across the road who has a Z3 want to do the same, but we're lacking guts.

I posted this new request for a tech-day. Let's see what comes out.

Colm and myself (mostly Colm) fitted a new mohair soft top to my MkII last month. It did take most of a Saturday - but the result is excellent.

My advice is to have a lot of the internals removed/loosened with WD40)the day before you plan to replace the hood. This allows you the time to just work on the hood on the day in question. It will take you just over an hour once you have the hood on to put the rainrail and trim back together.

If you need a hand, I'll certaintly help, but would'nt be confident to do it on my own, without another expert

Once you do one or two then you've done em all, different makes, styles anything.
BUT, the cheaper the top then the harder the refit (to make it look perfect), otherwise it's an easy job.

It may be an easy job, but it took Robin and colm
7 hours to do robins hood and it still was not finished.
It's not a quick job.

So keep in mind that it might rain in the 7 hours.

Art in web cars supplied and fitted one for me looks great and he did it in an afternoon.

Have you looked at any mohair examples?....
They can look really well , but I'd imagine the fitting has to be spot on.
Did you check out what Art would charge?......

It's a job that I haven't done or seen being done before.
If I was changing I'd let the expert do it if the cost wasn't out of reach .

Wouldn't really know anyone in your area. Is your softop on the frame or you have just a softop on it's own?
