Hey John et al,
Great to get that little bit of yellow paper eh?
I am waiting for a date for my little lizard to go through this intimate ordeal and was wondering if there is anything I should check/do/etc as I have a blank space in the disc holder that needs filling. As my car is an import I am wondering if there is anything I should change or replace?

Thanks,val

Nice one John!

Val:
Take off your front+ rear side reflectors (2 screws) for the test (or tape over them).

Hey Val,
Good luck with the upcoming NCT...
As Steve says just use put some masking tape over those side reflectors (red rear ones and Orange front ones)

Make sure ALL bulbs indicators/lights/brakes are working etc.

Your emissions on the 1991 mk1 wont be an issue anyway.!

Just make sure you dont have any oil leaks from the shocks.

Polish it up and make it gleaming..... these car testers love those mk1 BRGs..bet you he passes it :D :D

Let us know when your doing the 'big move'... we could do a 'bring a brush' house-warming run....

Good luck and see you on one of the runs someday.

Regards John.

Hi John and srigley,
Do you know that was one of the first things I heard of was the indicator issue. So I bought stainless steel covers (totally not sure of them yet so will unscrew!!)

The big move is still pending....el bastardos (builders) and my bastardina (solicitor) both know that June 1st is the date but are both ignoring me! The house does come fully painted (magnolia!!!) so may just have a 'bring a mx5' party instead!!!

I really hope to get to the saturday leg of the waterford trip.....sun holiday pending!!

Can I ask another nerdy question? T-Cut......is it a colour restorer or a residue remover? I need to spend a good day bringing my little lizard back to glory!
Ta for all advice
val

Hi Val

As far as I am aware there are two kinds of T-Cut available. T-Cut original (which I think is still sold) is designed to remove oxidisation and general road grime...and probably a very small layer of paint. I have T-Cut Colour Restorer in the garage, which does the same thing, but also acts as a (colour) polishing agent (you can get this with colour to match your car). If you use T-Cut original be sure to polish/wax/seal the surface when finished (you will have taken off the polish that was on the bodywork). That said, I would recommend that whatever one you use, to add some polish anyway.

And finally - if you have metallic paint make sure you use T-Cut for metallic paint - the original (and the Colour Fast) T-Cut will start to remove the laquer covering the paint......and you don't want that!!!

Good luck.

Sounds good to me, maybe a barbeque if the weather picks up?

This will endear you to your new neighbours  :D

Thanks for the advice mrges! I am a little bit of a sun worshiper so the minute it popped out today I was out buffing and shining (da car!!).
Still waiting to do a huge wash/wax/bar etc etc the car inside and out some day.

John....if/when I get the keys I don't think the 'neighbours' will mind as I will be the second to move in on my row and the others are at the other end!!!!! BBQ and Wex-Yella-Belly sounds good to me.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhh by the way.......................
