Was driving the mx5 yesterday as it was too good of a day not to, was coming onto the motorway so was picking up speed, then the car started misfiring and died slowly, replaced the battery and it drove ok for 10minutes and started missing again at low revs , not sure what to begin replacing now ? Any suggestions or experiences ? Read up that the leads are a common problem ? Thank you in advance !

Thanks Rob, I'll give you a shout next week at some stage, it just keeps miss firing after 2 minutes of driving fine and then will cut out and won't start again then, from what I've read up it seems like coil problem anyway, just wasn't too sure, I'll check the ecu later after work anyway! Cheers! It's a 91 jap na6

Ignition needs spark testing before you start throwing money at it.
When were the plugs changed /gapped?
When were the leads changed as they are shite?
If they weren't, they have probably loaded the coils too much and POSSIBLY, caused a failure.
A resistance check will verify this but not always.
So, new plugs then leads and if it still misfires resistance check on coils and replace if fecked.
Buy new leads and the best you can afford.

Why ECU? Its the least likely to be at fault.
