What is it with some people

Postby mx5ash » Tue, 17 Jun 2008 10:54 +0000

Coming home this evening and rounded a bend to find a truck stopped in front of me due to the car in front of him losing it on the bend and slamming head on in to a barrier on the youghal bridge. Pulled up, hazards on and got out to see if they were ok. The guy was out the car and seemed fine so 4 of us bumped the car straight and pushed it off the road. Everyone else got back in there cars and drove on (although someone at least managed to ring the gaurds) I pulled my car to the side of the road and went back to him as he was clearly in a little bit of shock and i would think had more coming to him when it really hit him. He was also struggling to get hold of his wife with his phone. Made sure he was ok and leant him my phone so he could try to get hold of her.
After a couple of mins of standing there an oldish guy pulls up gets out and comes over, he then starts this rant about how we should "take more care on the roads" and that "you are kiiling yourselves everyday". I mean what a tool, yes road deaths in ireland are high and there are some very bad drivers out there but he had no idea what had happened & no idea if anyone was hurt. The guy driving wasn't a young fellow and from what he told me he said he felt the car start to slide a little (road was wet which after a long dry period is always greasy) he braked lost it some more, tried to correct and over did it and hit the barrier. Anyway I lost it at this point saying that the guy had just had an accident and was in shock and the last thing he needed was a wanker talking to him like that. Told him 5 times to get back in the car and drive on if he had nothing else to say/offer before he got the hint and fecked off.
Anyway waited till the gaurds arrived and wished the guy all the best, he thanked me for my help and i left him with The cars insured your not, your ok and thats the main thing. He said thanks i'll be fine ..... till the wife sees the car!! Kind of made me smile.

Good man Ashley.

I can't believe you had to tell the guy 5 times though. Were you sitting down at the time :)

Nice one Ash - I think sometimes people like to judge situations without knowing what actually happened.

Nice of you to help the guy out though :D

That old guy who complained about the car crash sounds like a "Victor Meldrew" character! These "holier then thou" types make me laugh!  He was probably on his way to a fetish-barbeque :?
