Mk2 condenser and dryer

Postby Merlot man » Sun, 12 Jun 2016 6:54 +0000

Hello all
I'm about to start and retrofit my mk2 with a used but good AC system ,( thanks to Autocheck on here for supplying me this) . It came with a fair condenser but , as I'm at it , I'd prefer to fit a new condenser and dryer , mx5 parts want £725 for it
Does anyone have an idea as to where I'd get it a bit cheaper as that price is robbery !
Don't mind if it it aftermarket
Thanks in advance
Brian

Thanks Robert
The one I got from you a couple of months ago is probibly ok but I was told that it's a good job to replace the drier for new when refitting these things and when I was at it it would be a really good idea to replace the condenser as well .
I've looked into getting it recored as well but they don't seem to do that for aircon rads ?
I wonder is it possible to get a universal condenser that could be modded to fit .
I'm going to cork all of this week to do some school work and I'm hoping to meet up with an air con engineer to see what he can do for me , at least I hope to get all new seals from him , it was he who adviced me about the drier replacement.
Really my only reason to post this is to see what other useful information is out there from members !
I promise I'll have a look at the sale section , sorry for not getting back Robert .

Hello all
I've fitted the AC bits yesterday . I must say that it all went pretty well and defiantly a DIY project .
Access to underneath the car is required and to help further a removed the rad .
I'm still looking for a better solution to the condenser than using the old one so if anybody has any advice please feel free !

Hello all
Just to update this tread I've completed the fitting of the AC system including a new condenser and drier from BHM compack radiators in Coventry and I got it gased this morning in rad fix in Galway city . Drove home with ice cold air !!
Ridiculous that I had to go to England to get a condenser but there you go .
Looking forward to driving her now in hotter climbes
