One wheel fire

Hi,
i jacked up my 10Ae yesterday to check my wheels as one suspected buckled (again). Anyways, i tried spiining the car in gear ferris beuler style jacked up, surprisingly only one wheel would spin up, the other would catch and spin a bit but 99% of the power was going to the other one. Reverse was the same too. so i was pretty worried that the diff was locked up ???
but on the gravel it will leave two skid marks when pulling off. is this normal for an LSD ???

I'm no expert but I'd imagine the diff need traction to work.

Yes diff will spin easiest wheel to turn.Thats normal without being loaded with weight etc.Two skid marks tell the story

The Torsen Diff doesn't lock, it transfers torque to the wheel with the most grip using spur and worm gears , the angles on these are carefully calculated to give the desired affect. It is really an open diff for 99% of the time until one wheel loses traction. The type one is a wee bit more aggressive in its action , the type 2 more progressive. I have had both fitted and prefer the type 2.
