So Aviva need an engineers report before they will insure my car. Aviva haven't told me much about where to go and most dealers have no clue themselves. Also wondering what I should expect to pay.

On their website it states , NCT cert or engineers report whichever is applicable .
Engineers report is usually needed if there have been modifications done to the vehicle . Example is where a van has been converted to wheelchair accessible taxi.

As far as i know any simi registered garage should be able to fill out and engineers report for you. We have a local garagr here that will do it for bucket seats, aftermarket steering wheels and cages so they can get through n.c.t

Autocheck is correct there, when I put a cat c back on the road I had to get the insurance assessors report for them, all the assessor wanted was a new NCT done. That's a few years ago , things may have changed since.

Ya I have heard about getting an engineers report when the modification to the vehicle has been done, however mine is due to the fact that the car has been declared off the road and now is back on it. I'll look into seeing if the nct is enough as it was NCT'd just before I declared it off the road and its well in date.

Engineer report is needed if vehicle is a cat c or d insurance claim. Or if you declare any suspension or engine swaps.. Aviva only require a engineer report from a simi registered garage or a Main Dealer.
