Buying a NC / Mk3.5 in UK to replace my Mk1

Hi all, long time no see.

Am still driving my old NA - but it's getting long in the tooth now & I'm thinking of selling it & buying a post-facelift NC from the UK. From a quick search it looks like I can save up to a grand on Irish prices by importing a 2009-2011 model, depending on the car - and there seems to be a much wider range of NCs to choose from in the UK. My petrolhead brother in Wales will help me find a good one.

Anyone have experience of buying cars from the UK? Any tips for buying a Mk3.5?
